Good-bye, RoadRunner...

Fri Dec 18, 2009, 6:28 PM
...and hello, CenturyLink!

Well, not just yet, but come January, I will be ditching Time Warner Cable and going with CenturyLink (formerly Embarq) DSL service and Dish Network satellite TV! This is great news and all (I can finally get decent channels :p it's about time...), but for the love of God, I hope my dad has enough sense to not get the 512K/sec DSL package, because I don't need an already slow connection to get even slower (180K/sec download speed != fast! :pissedoff: )! Before I explode, however, this is basically the reason that, come late December/early January, I will be unable to get online at all until we get reconnected. Peace, and merry Christmas! (or whatever you celebrate, I don't discriminate)
Before I forget: does anyone have any clue whether CenturyLink supports Linux? I don't want to have to hunt down a Windows CD just because some company doesn't want to support a superior OS... also, I finally decided to get my own PS2 for Christmas, and I got a sweet Mario shirt (it's all in Japanese!) and Super Mario 64 DS (playing as Mario ATM, working on getting Luigi :iconweegeeplz: )

more malicious ads!

Fri Nov 27, 2009, 3:07 PM
EDIT2: Removed the skin... it's only for a limited time, and it was about to expire... aw man...

EDIT: Just taking advantage of the (limited-time, unfortunately) offer for ALL deviants to use journal skins! This is awesome, as I can't afford to become a member :( I really wish someone would pay for a membership for me... sorry if I'm coming across as a mooch :P

DA's gotten lax again... I've run into at least three ads that try to redirect me to some other site or attempt to download malicious spyware/viruses onto my computer. The most recent ad was, at least to me, particularly lulz-worthy because it tried to convince me my computer was being infected with tons of threats to my data/security, and doing a rather poor job at it because
A) the pop-ups and fake notifications were full of misspellings and punctuation errors (not to mention Windows Explorer wouldn't appear in any recent version of IE or at all in Firefox),
B) my computer has one hard drive, not two, and I don't have a DVD drive (yup, old computer is old)
C) (this is the best one) I USE UBUNTU, NOT WINDOWS! THAT VIRUS COULDN'T DO ANYTHING TO MY COMPUTER ANYWAYS! :mwahaha:
Seriously, DA, you really need to do a better job of monitoring which ads pop up from your ad server... I'm sure it's not that hard to do, is it?

18...

Mon Oct 19, 2009, 11:27 AM
Well, today's finally the day! I am now 18, which means I am (technically) now an adult! Oh yeah, if you're wondering, the first thing that crossed my mind when I woke up was "Hey, I'm 18... I can view porn now!" :iconpervplz: Yes, I'm apparently that perverted... :P
Also, I found out yesterday that Disney is going to air a newly remastered version of the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers on ABC Kids starting in January... weird, I'm an adult and I'm still practically jizzing with excitement over this news, as I never got to see too much of the original series when it aired ('twas more of a BeetleBorgs fan, another fantastic show... man, I miss Saturday morning cartoons...)

DS!

Sat Aug 15, 2009, 12:20 PM
Hey guys! Got quite a tale to tell: my mom got each of us a $300 gift card to Wal-Mart! Initially, I was planning on finally being able to get my own computer, but due to plans changing (as well as prices being higher than expected), I instead decided to get myself a DS Lite and a copy of Chrono Trigger! :XD: Whoo! I would've gotten Pokemon Platinum, but after buying school supplies and clothes (found a Death Note shirt :wow: ), I could only afford to get a $20 game with my DS, so I chose Chrono Trigger (and I was lucky, it was the only copy at that store)
Anyways, peace and love to you guys!

Ubuntu installed, family pissed!

Tue Jul 28, 2009, 6:37 PM
Welp, I have officially made the switch to Ubuntu, and for some reason, everyone in my entire family is pissed off at me:crying:... my aunt in particular probably doesn't even want to recognize me as a relative anymore because of what I did to the computer! I just wanna say this, though: Is installing a new OS really something to get pissed off about? Especially when I carefully made sure that every file on our old OS was backed up and then put back on here when the install was done? Is it so bad that all MS Office/PowerPoint/Excel files are completely compatible with OpenOffice? Is it a crime to have a new OS that offers a new world of possibilities, not to mention one that offers far more security than Windows ever could? I ask of you, what do you think of my plight? I really need a hug right now...
